Macau welcomes over 40 million tourists in 2025
This was driven by a surge in arrivals from Mainland China under the Individual Visit Scheme.
According to the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC), Macau recorded a total of over 40 million visitor arrivals in 2025, a 14.7% year-over-year (YoY) increase.
Arrivals by land accounted for nearly 83%, or over 33 million, of the total arrivals, while arrivals by sea reached 3.9 million, up 9.8%, and arrivals by air reached 3.0 million, contributing 7.6%.
Among the arrivals, same-day visitors reached 23.5 million, while overnight visitors were 16.5 million, a 24.6% and 3.1% rise, respectively. The average length of stay of visitors shortened by 0.1 day to 1.1 days compared to the previous year.
Travelers from Mainland China led inbound travel to Macau, rising 18.5% to 29 million, with those traveling under the Individual Visit Scheme (15,440,699) rising by 25.7%.
Among the Mainland visitors, 2.1 million traveled under the “one trip per week measure,” 780,936 under the “multiple-entry measure,” and 177,162 under the “tourist group multi-entry measure.”
