IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced a new management agreement with Phuket HA 2 Co., Ltd. to launch voco Phuket Patong, a 307-room hotel scheduled to open in 2028 in Phuket. The announcement marks another milestone in the rapid expansion of the voco brand across Thailand following its Bangkok debut last year and several additional signings currently in development.
Located within the mixed-use development Abov Patong on the hillside of Patong, voco Phuket Patong will form part of a larger destination featuring hotels, branded residences, and lifestyle facilities. The development will include a clubhouse, theatre, multi-zone swimming pools, and a Kids Club, positioning the property within one of Phuket’s prominent tourism areas.
The project strengthens the presence of voco hotels in Southeast Asia as the premium brand continues to grow globally. According to IHG, the voco portfolio currently includes 137 hotels operating worldwide, alongside another 113 properties in the development pipeline. Existing regional properties include voco Bangkok Surawong in Thailand, voco Bandung Setiabudi in Indonesia, and voco Scenia Bay Nha Trang in Vietnam.
Speaking on behalf of IHG, Pathana Jitsaereetham, Director of Development for Thailand, highlighted Phuket’s recent tourism performance and its role in supporting hospitality investment in the region. Phuket recorded its strongest high season in five years during 2025, exceeding pre-pandemic levels as international travel demand continued to recover.
Jitsaereetham said Phuket’s reputation as a leading island destination remains supported by its beaches, ocean attractions, culinary offerings, and Thai hospitality, drawing travellers from multiple international markets. He added that voco Phuket Patong would contribute to expanding accommodation options under IHG’s existing Phuket portfolio.
IHG currently operates and develops seven hotels across five brands in Phuket, including InterContinental, Vignette Collection, Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn, and Holiday Inn Express. The addition of voco Phuket Patong will further diversify the company’s offerings on the island.
The upcoming hotel will be situated approximately 150 metres from Patong Beach and will offer panoramic ocean views alongside surrounding mountain scenery. The location also provides access to nearby entertainment venues, shopping centres, and dining districts within Patong. Other Phuket destinations including Karon Beach, Kata Beach, and Kamala Beach can also be reached by car from the property.
Facilities planned for voco Phuket Patong include a restaurant, two bars, spa services, a swimming pool, and a fitness centre. The hotel is expected to cater to both domestic and international travellers seeking premium accommodation within Phuket’s tourism hub.
Wuthikrai Kulsirisawad, Chief Executive Officer of Phuket HA 2 Co., Ltd., said the voco brand aligns with the positioning of Abov Patong as an upscale lifestyle destination. He noted that the brand’s approachable atmosphere and IHG’s global hospitality platforms would complement the mixed-use development’s concept.
Kulsirisawad added that voco Phuket Patong is expected to strengthen Patong’s profile as a destination for both visitors and residents. He also described the agreement as the company’s first hotel partnership with IHG and indicated interest in establishing a long-term collaboration with the hospitality group.
The signing continues IHG’s broader expansion strategy across Thailand, where the company now has more than 80 open and signed hotels nationwide. Alongside voco Phuket Patong, four additional voco properties are also planned for Bangkok and Phuket as the brand accelerates growth within the country’s hospitality sector.
Originally launched as one of IHG’s premium hotel brands, voco has expanded internationally through a combination of conversions and newly built developments. The brand positions itself within the premium segment while maintaining flexible design and locally inspired experiences tailored to individual destinations.
Thailand has remained a strategic growth market for IHG due to continued tourism demand and infrastructure development across major destinations including Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya, and Chiang Mai. Phuket in particular has seen sustained recovery in international arrivals following the reopening of global travel routes and increased regional connectivity.
The voco Phuket Patong agreement also reflects continued investment activity in mixed-use hospitality developments, combining accommodation with residential and leisure facilities in destination markets. Abov Patong’s integrated concept aims to attract both travellers and long-term residents through its range of entertainment and lifestyle amenities.
With construction planned ahead of the 2028 opening, voco Phuket Patong is expected to become part of Patong’s expanding premium hospitality landscape while supporting IHG’s ongoing growth strategy in Thailand and across Southeast Asia.
