AirBorneo to launch more flights in Malaysia in H2 2026
The airline is expecting to operate larger aircrafts this year.
AirBorneo, a Sarawak-owned airline, is expected to operate more flights on larger aircrafts to various destinations including Peninsular Malaysia and nearby regions after July 2026.
Currently, the airline is still using small aircraft which is an extension of the Rural Air Service (RAS) previously operated by MASWings.
"So, we cannot see a major change within one month because it needs to be given at least two years for us to be able to arrive at the big destinations," Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said.
AirBorneo officially commenced operations on 2 January. The airline was established after the Sarawak government acquired MASWings from the Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) in January 2025.
The airline took over MASWings’ operations on 1 January when it assumed full legal and operational responsibility for services previously managed by MASWings. This includes flights, customer service, and passenger management.
