The Luxury Collection has launched The Luxury Collection Expeditions, extending its destination-focused hospitality offering beyond hotel stays through curated journeys built around cultural heritage, local expertise, craftsmanship, cuisine, ecosystems, and wellness practices. The initiative connects participating Luxury Collection hotels with multi-day journeys, single-day discoveries, and specialist-led residencies across destinations in North America, Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean.
The launch expands the role of the brand’s more than 130 hotels and resorts across 42 countries and territories as gateways to destination-based discovery. Through Expeditions, properties connect guests with historians, artisans, chefs, winemakers, conservationists, scientists, and other local experts, while combining these encounters with private transportation, cultural access, accommodations, and hospitality services.
Bruce Rohr, Vice President and Global Brand Leader, The Luxury Collection, said the initiative builds on the brand’s long-standing focus on destinations and the people, rituals, and landscapes that shape them. Expeditions extend that approach beyond the hotel environment through experiences designed around expert guidance and cultural context.
The new platform is structured across three formats: Private Tailored Journeys, Day Discoveries, and Residencies & Collaborations. Each format connects participating hotels with different levels of destination-based programming while maintaining a focus on cultural authenticity, specialist expertise, and elevated hospitality.
Private Tailored Journeys comprise bespoke, multi-day itineraries developed around individual interests and connect Luxury Collection hotels with private transportation, local expertise, and cultural access across multiple destinations. The itineraries are designed as interconnected regional journeys rather than separate hotel visits, linking different aspects of a destination through a single travel program.
In Japan, The Imperial Journey spans 10 days across Tokyo, Kyoto, and Nara, using three Luxury Collection hotels as gateways to different aspects of Japanese culture. The itinerary includes a samurai residence, sushi-making with a fourth-generation master, access to rarely opened temple spaces with a resident monk, and an intimate geiko dinner in Gion. Chauffeured transfers and Green Car rail travel connect the destinations.
Italy: The Grand Italia Rally follows a six-night route beginning in Milan and continuing through Venice and Florence before returning to Milan. Guests drive a classic Italian automobile along routes through Franciacorta, Lake Garda, the Apennines, Tuscany, and the Ligurian coast, with each day concluding at a Luxury Collection hotel.
The Aegean Odyssey in Greece connects Mykonos, Paros, and Santorini over nine days through private helicopter and yacht travel. The itinerary includes a visit to Delos with a local archaeologist, travel to Antiparos and Despotiko, exploration of Paros’ marble heritage, and wine and culinary experiences in Santorini.
The second format, Day Discoveries, provides focused single-day experiences at select hotels. These programs center on individual crafts, culinary traditions, cultural practices, or natural environments and create destination programming that can be incorporated into a hotel stay without requiring a multi-day itinerary.
At Suiran, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Kyoto, Farm to Fermentation explores Japanese preservation culture through a journey for up to four guests. The experience connects a local farm, a fermentation house, a rice-bran preservation workshop, a picnic, and a chef-crafted teppanyaki dinner.
At The Phoenician, a Luxury Collection Resort, Scottsdale, Desert Icons: A Private Journey Through Living Legacy connects conservation, architecture, and locally sourced cuisine. The program includes access to the Desert Botanical Garden, including its seed bank, herbarium, and greenhouse, followed by a private tour of Taliesin West and a farm-to-table dinner at the resort.
At Bab Samhan, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Diriyah, Doors of Diriyah: A Najdi Palette & Palate explores the region’s historic architecture and craftsmanship. Guests visit the UNESCO-listed A-Turaif district and a private Najdi palace, prepare Henini with hotel chefs, and participate in an artisan-led painting workshop inspired by Najdi door designs.
The third format, Residencies & Collaborations, places specialist knowledge at the center of limited-time programs. These initiatives connect guests with winemakers, scientists, conservationists, and cultural figures through shared learning and hands-on participation.
At Hotel Marqués de Riscal, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Elciego, The Art of Winemaking: A Rioja Alavesa Masterclass provides a five-day program covering different stages of the winemaking process. Participants harvest grapes with the viticulture team, access the winery’s gravity-fed cellar, and participate in a private blending session. Personalized wines continue aging in French oak barrels after departure, with 40 custom-labeled bottles subsequently shipped to participants’ homes.
At Salterra, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, South Caicos, three programs focus on the island’s marine environments, coastal areas, and night skies. Reef Revival Expedition connects guests with marine scientists and School for Field Studies researchers through a coral nursery laboratory and guided reef snorkeling, with an optional coral-planting dive for certified divers.
Angler’s Paradise Expedition pairs guests with a bonefishing expert to explore remote flats, while From Tides to Stars Expedition combines naturalist-guided kayaking through the Northern Cays with private stargazing. The three programs position the resort’s destination offering around local ecosystems and the specialists involved in their study and preservation.
The inaugural Luxury Collection Expeditions portfolio comprises 10 experiences across North America, Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean. The brand will introduce additional Expeditions in the fall, expanding the platform across its global hotel portfolio and adding further destination-based programming to its hospitality offering.
