The Hari London, The Hari Hong Kong and the forthcoming The Hari Singapore are set to join IHG Hotels & Resorts’ Vignette Collection, extending the Harilela Group’s relationship with IHG across three properties in London, Hong Kong and Singapore. The repositioning is scheduled to take effect later this year and will bring the three hotels into IHG’s collection of independent luxury properties.
The move builds on a strategic relationship between the Harilela Group and IHG that has continued for more than five decades. With the addition of The Hari portfolio, the partnership will extend to six hotels across Asia and Europe. The arrangement gives the three properties access to IHG’s global platform and loyalty programme while retaining The Hari brand identity.
For the Harilela Group, the repositioning covers two operating hotels and one property under development. The Hari London opened in 2016, followed by The Hari Hong Kong in 2020, while The Hari Singapore is scheduled to open in spring 2027. The Singapore property will become Vignette Collection’s first hotel in the market when it opens.
Vignette Collection is IHG’s first collection brand and forms part of its luxury and lifestyle portfolio. The brand was created for independent hotel owners seeking access to IHG’s enterprise capabilities and global scale while maintaining their properties’ individual character, style and names. Participating hotels are required to meet criteria relating to design, guest experience and community impact.
The structure enables The Hari properties to retain their existing positioning while connecting them with IHG’s wider operating and commercial ecosystem. IHG’s loyalty programme, IHG One Rewards, has more than 160 million members, while the group operates more than one million rooms across 7,000 hotels in more than 100 countries. Its development pipeline includes a further 2,300 properties.
The Hari portfolio is positioned around a design-led hospitality model developed by Harilela Group Chairman and CEO Dr Aron Harilela, who founded The Hari brand. The hotels were created from the Harilela Group’s experience in hotel ownership and development, with the brand built around what the group describes as relaxed elegance, culture, individuality and intuitive hospitality.
The three properties also share an approach centred on connections with their respective destinations. Designed by British interior designer Tara Bernerd, The Hari hotels feature layered interiors and rotating art collections featuring established and emerging local artists. Destination-focused initiatives include insider guides to London’s Belgravia and Hong Kong’s Wan Chai, as well as The Hari Neighbourhood Guide Audio Tour and Wan Chai By Night.
Community and sustainability initiatives form another component of the brand’s operating approach. The annual The Hari Art Prize, supported through donations from the Harilela family, is designed to champion emerging artistic talent. The properties also hold EarthCheck certifications and maintain charity partnerships.
The alignment with Vignette Collection incorporates these existing characteristics into a wider independent-hotel platform. Vignette Collection properties collectively focus on individuality while connecting responsibility, community and locality with their respective destinations. The collection’s proposition is structured around independent hotels maintaining their character while accessing IHG’s broader resources.
For the Harilela Group, the partnership also provides a framework for extending The Hari brand into another international market through The Hari Singapore. Located at 11 Cavenagh Road, the property is scheduled to open in spring 2027 and will introduce the Vignette Collection brand to Singapore for the first time.
The Singapore opening adds a new market to The Hari’s existing presence in London and Hong Kong. The three properties will operate under The Hari identity while becoming part of IHG’s Vignette Collection, creating a shared platform across the group’s current and forthcoming hotels in these markets.
IHG said Vignette Collection has more than 80 open and pipeline hotels and is tracking ahead of its ambition to reach more than 100 hotels within its first decade. The addition of The Hari’s portfolio brings the collection into Singapore while further strengthening its presence in London and Hong Kong.
The broader Harilela Group, established in 1959 and wholly owned by the Harilela family, is the parent company of Harilela Hotels. The group owns 15 properties across Hong Kong, China, Asia, Europe and the United States. The partnership with IHG therefore connects The Hari’s three properties with an established hotel ownership and development platform operating across multiple international markets.
The repositioning is expected to take effect later in 2026, while The Hari Singapore is scheduled to join the portfolio following its planned opening in spring 2027. The three hotels will remain under The Hari brand as they become part of IHG’s Vignette Collection.
