Indonesia — Sudamala Resorts is set to expand its presence in Bali with the opening of Sudamala Resort Ubud in October 2026, adding a 46-accommodation boutique luxury resort to its Indonesian portfolio.
Located on Jalan Suweta, the resort sits approximately five to ten minutes from central Ubud, with Puri Saren Agung, or Ubud Royal Palace, as well as galleries, temples, museums, artisan communities, and the Ubud Art Market within easy reach. The development occupies a setting overlooking a river valley, rice fields, and tropical forest.
The opening adds a second Sudamala Resorts property in Bali, following Sudamala Resort Sanur, while extending the group’s portfolio across other Indonesian destinations including Lombok and Flores. Its existing portfolio also comprises Sudamala Resort Senggigi, Sudamala Resort Seraya, and Sudamala Resort Komodo.
Sudamala Resort Ubud comprises 46 accommodations across Deluxe Rooms, Suites, and Private Pool Villas. The architecture combines contemporary Balinese design with traditional elements and modern facilities. Each room features a private terrace or balcony, while selected villas include infinity pools overlooking the surrounding landscape.
Local artisans have been involved in producing various interior elements, incorporating Indonesian craftsmanship into the design. Materials and architectural details are used to reflect the cultural and natural characteristics associated with Ubud.
The resort’s food and beverage offering includes Tambus Restaurant, which serves Indonesian cuisine prepared using open-fire cooking techniques. Tirta Bar offers modern mixed drinks, while Tepian Bar operates alongside the swimming pool.
Some of the ingredients used by the culinary operations come from the resort’s own organic garden, with additional supplies sourced from local producers. The sourcing model forms part of the resort’s focus on sustainability and engagement with surrounding communities.
Wellness facilities are led by Sudajiva Spa, which combines traditional and modern therapies with natural ingredients sourced from the local area. Yoga is also included among the activities available at the resort.
Cultural programming forms another part of the development. Planned activities include temple visits, purification rituals, Balinese cooking classes, traditional dance performances, yoga, and rafting. These offerings connect the resort’s hospitality operation with cultural and outdoor activities available in the Ubud area.
The development also includes wedding and meeting facilities. Weddings and private celebrations can be hosted against the backdrop of the river valley, while the meeting facilities are supported by event planning services.
The Ubud opening is part of Sudamala Resorts’ broader “An Indonesian Odyssey” concept, which presents Indonesia through a collection of destinations distinguished by their individual cultures, landscapes, and local characteristics. The portfolio currently spans Sanur and Ubud in Bali, Senggigi in Lombok, and Seraya and Komodo in Flores.
Sudamala Resorts was founded in 2011, with its properties developed around local traditions, communities, and the characteristics of their destinations. Ahead of the Ubud opening, the resort conducted a Melaspas ceremony, a Balinese purification ritual traditionally held to bless a new property and honor the spirits associated with the land.
The Ubud development brings accommodation, food and beverage, wellness, cultural programming, weddings, and meetings together within a single 46-unit resort. Its location also provides access to Ubud’s established cultural attractions while maintaining a setting overlooking the surrounding river valley.
With the October 2026 opening, Sudamala Resorts will add Ubud to its operating portfolio and broaden its presence within Bali’s hospitality market. The resort’s offering is structured around boutique accommodation, Indonesian culinary experiences, wellness, cultural activities, and event facilities.
