SONO Hotels & Resorts Asia has signed a Hotel Management Agreement with PT Nelayan Development SPV for the development of SONO Felice Bali Canggu, a 90-room upper upscale lifestyle hotel scheduled to open in July 2028.
The agreement marks another expansion milestone for SONO Hotels & Resorts Asia as the company strengthens its presence in Indonesia and broader Southeast Asia. According to the company, the project aligns with its strategy of focusing on high-potential destinations across the region.
The upcoming hotel will be located on Jalan Nelayan in Canggu, Bali, within close proximity to Batu Bolong Beach. The area has become one of Bali’s most recognized lifestyle destinations, attracting visitors through its surf culture, creative community, dining venues, and leisure offerings.
SONO Felice Bali Canggu is planned as a residential-hospitality hybrid concept aimed at serving both short-term guests and extended-stay travelers. The development reflects increasing demand for accommodation that combines residential-style features with hospitality services, particularly among digital nomads and international travelers seeking flexible living arrangements.
The SONO Felice brand is positioned within the premium lifestyle hospitality segment. According to SONO Hotels & Resorts Asia, the brand focuses on residential-style stays that emphasize comfort, elegance, and lifestyle-oriented experiences. The Bali property will represent the brand’s first entry into the island market.
Jihong An, Senior Vice President – Asia of SONO Hotels & Resorts Asia, stated that the company’s regional growth strategy is based on long-term market fundamentals and destination potential. He described Canggu as one of the region’s strongest lifestyle markets and said the project reflects SONO’s focus on combining location, product positioning, and development partnerships.
The hotel project will consist of four architecturally distinct buildings inspired by the natural elements of Water, Fire, Air, and Earth. The design concept is intended to create a recognizable identity for the property while incorporating lifestyle-focused amenities and experiences.
According to the announcement, the hotel will offer ocean views, rooftop dining facilities, and personalized guest services, including private butler services. The development is intended to target travelers seeking design-oriented accommodation connected to the surrounding destination.
Ahti Kiili, President Director of PT Nelayan Development SPV, said Canggu continues to develop as one of Bali’s most desirable hospitality destinations. He added that the partnership with SONO Hotels & Resorts Asia would support the delivery of a hospitality concept aligned with the area’s evolving market positioning.
The project announcement also highlighted broader travel trends influencing hospitality development in Bali and other regional destinations. SONO Hotels & Resorts Asia stated that the property is being designed to accommodate increasing demand for flexible and lifestyle-led travel experiences that combine comfort, design, and local connectivity.

He added that the project also aims to remain aligned with the character and atmosphere of Canggu.
