"AI to me for hospitality is a blessing and a curse together. The blessing is that you are getting a lot of data and your data is being churned to give you a summary of information in a fraction of a second. But the curse is that sometimes AI can distract you, and that distraction can cost you time and money," notes Kiran Suthar, Group Director of Revenue at Sunway Hotels & Resorts.
"AI is a tool. It's not in the glamour column for sure. We want to run the system, but not the soul of the hotel with AI. No business in our industry is ready for full autonomy. You need automation for data-rich scenarios, but we want to keep humans for emotional interactions, service recovery, and situational judgment. Rather than replacing hoteliers, AI functions as an enabler, taking over repetitive administrative tasks so staff can focus entirely on guest engagement.”
