Singapore, South Korea, and Japan hold the top three spots as the world’s most powerful passports.
Singapore remains the world’s most powerful passport, ranking first in the Henley Passport Index 2025. Singaporean passport holders have visa-free access to 193 of the 195 countries worldwide.
Following closely is South Korea, whose passport grants access to 190 countries, while Japan ranks third with access to 189 countries. Malaysia also made it to the top 10, tying with Iceland with access to 181 countries.
In fourth place, 11 European countries—including Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Spain, and Switzerland—shared the spot with access to 187 countries.
In fifth place, access to 186 countries was shared by more European nations, including Greece, Portugal, Norway, and Sweden.
At the other end of the spectrum, Afghanistan holds the lowest-ranking passport, with visa-free access to only 24 countries.
The Henley Passport Index includes 199 passports and 227 travel destinations.
