New survey revealed Indonesia travel trends this holiday season

Younger travellers are seeking luxury travel experiences.

In Indonesia, younger travelers are increasingly opting for luxury travel, with 40% aged 18–24 and 39% aged 25–34, according to a survey by YouGov. The majority of this group are male (62%), and 27% come from higher income brackets.

This holiday season, Indonesian luxury travelers intend to travel internationally at twice the rate of budget travelers (52% vs. 26%), while domestic travel plans remain nearly identical (72% vs. 70%).

Japan is the leading international destination for both luxury and budget travelers, followed by Singapore, Korea, and Saudi Arabia. For domestic travel, Bali is the top choice across both segments.

When planning holidays, luxury travelers are more likely to use destination marketing organizations (50%), while budget travelers rely more on social media (55%) and recommendations from friends or family (51%).

For bookings, luxury travelers prefer to reserve directly through hotel websites (33%), whereas budget travelers are more inclined to use tour operators (27%) and offline agencies (26%).
