Mövenpick Expands Indonesia Portfolio With Mövenpick Resort & Spa Bintan Lagoon

News Indonesia
Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts has opened Mövenpick Resort & Spa Bintan Lagoon on Indonesia’s Bintan Island, adding a 408-room beachfront property with accommodation, dining, recreation, wellness, golf, and meetings and events facilities to the brand’s portfolio.

Located on Bintan’s northern coast, the resort is positioned within ferry access from Singapore and is designed to accommodate a range of business and leisure uses, including corporate gatherings, meetings, incentives, conferences and events. The property combines hotel accommodation with multiple food and beverage outlets, recreation facilities, wellness services and access to Bintan Lagoon International Golf.

The opening adds a substantial hospitality asset to Mövenpick’s presence in Indonesia, with facilities structured around both individual stays and group requirements. Its meetings and events component includes more than 2,000 square metres of space, with a 900-square-metre Grand Ballroom supported by flexible function areas and outdoor venues across the beachfront resort.

For hospitality business stakeholders, the property brings together several operational segments within a single resort development. Accommodation, food and beverage, recreation, wellness, golf and meetings facilities are integrated across the property, allowing the resort to serve different types of bookings and occasions.

The resort comprises 408 rooms and suites, with private balconies or terraces overlooking either gardens or the sea. The accommodation portfolio includes Deluxe Rooms, Premium Terrace Rooms, Junior Suites, Executive Suites, Ambassador Suites and a Presidential Suite. The interiors are designed to support both short breaks and longer stays.

Food and beverage operations form another major component of the resort. Port 19 operates as an all-day dining restaurant offering Indonesian, Asian and international cuisine alongside live cooking stations. Yokatta Izakaya & Bar focuses on Japanese dining, including sushi, udon, yakitori and sake.

Klon-Tong Deli draws on Bintan’s 1980s setting and offers pastries, ice cream, local specialities and coffee. The Recreation Village Sports Lounge combines casual dining with live sports, while Ocean Pool Bar operates from a swim-up setting and serves drinks and light bites.

The beachfront Soñada Beach Club occupies two storeys and includes Pan-Asian and Italian dishes, cocktails, a pool and beachfront cabanas. Weekend DJ sessions are also part of its programming. The resort additionally features Mövenpick’s Chocolate Hour, a daily offering centred on chocolate.

Recreation facilities extend across several areas of the property. The Recreation Village incorporates fitness, sports, family activities and casual dining, alongside yoga and Pilates sessions, a fitness centre and spaces for organised activities. Little Birds Club provides indoor and outdoor play areas, arts and crafts and interactive activities.

The property also includes swimming pools, kayaking, paddleboarding and other non-motorised water sports. Guests have access to Bintan Lagoon International Golf, which features two 18-hole courses designed by Jack Nicklaus and Ian Baker-Finch.

Wellness facilities are provided through Shantara Spa & Wellness. The facility includes private treatment rooms, couples’ rooms, reflexology and facial treatments, as well as sauna and steam room facilities. Its treatment menu includes massage, movement and wellness rituals inspired by the island and regional traditions.

Meetings and events represent a dedicated business component of the resort. More than 2,000 square metres of meeting and event space is available, centred on the 900-square-metre Grand Ballroom. Additional flexible function spaces are available for meetings, conferences, incentives, weddings and social events, while outdoor areas provide further venue options for team activities and celebrations.

Garth Simmons, Chief Operating Officer of Accor’s Premium, Midscale & Economy Division for Asia, said Mövenpick Resort & Spa Bintan Lagoon joins Accor’s growing portfolio in Indonesia. He highlighted Bintan’s established leisure destination status and accessibility from Singapore and across the region, while describing the resort’s facilities as serving families, leisure travellers, groups and meetings and events.

Richard Margo, General Manager of Mövenpick Resort & Spa Bintan Lagoon, said the resort had been designed around different ways of spending time together. The property is intended to accommodate stays focused on the beach, golf, dining, wellness, family holidays and corporate gatherings, with different facilities available across the resort.

The opening forms part of Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts’ wider international portfolio. Founded in 1948 by Swiss restaurateur Ueli Prager, Mövenpick has developed from a Swiss culinary concept into a hotel brand with more than 140 hotels and resorts across more than 40 countries.

Mövenpick is part of Accor, which operates more than 5,800 properties across more than 110 countries. The brand also participates in ALL Accor, the group’s booking platform and loyalty programme, providing access to rewards, services and experiences.

For the Bintan property, the business offering extends beyond its 408-room accommodation base through its food and beverage outlets, golf access, wellness facilities, recreational infrastructure and meetings and events capacity. The resort’s location on Bintan’s northern coast also places its operations within ferry access from Singapore, while its facilities support group and corporate requirements alongside other forms of accommodation demand.
