Philippine passport holders to become visa-free in Oman by 2026

The move aims to accelerate bilateral relations between the Philippines and Oman beyond traditional labor-focused initiatives.

On 7 December, Oman announced that the addition of the Republic of the Philippines to the list of countries exempt from short-visit visa requirements will take effect from next year.

The decision is part of the development of relations between Muscat and Manila to broaden its partnership to include investment, industry, and high-value tourism.

Philippines’ strict procedures on its citizens before departure has helped pave the way for the visa exemption. These procedures include proof of good health, financial capability, and flight and hotel bookings.

The Oman Visa and Medical Examination Centre in Manila, inaugurated last July also served as an integrated facility for streamlining and regulating work visa procedures in line with approved employment contracts under Omani labour law.

The center offers biometric registration, medical examinations, document and contract authentication, as well as awareness and support services for workers and employers.

According to diplomatic experts, this move highlights Oman’s strategic vision to strengthen its international presence, supporting mutual economic and commercial benefits and contributing to increased tourism activity.
