Langham Hospitality Group (LHG) has appointed Nils-Arne Schroeder as Chief Operating Officer, effective 22 June 2026, as the company advances the expansion of its international portfolio of hotels and residences. The leadership appointment comes as the Hong Kong-headquartered hospitality operator continues to broaden its presence across established and emerging destinations while preparing for a series of new property openings over the next several years.
Schroeder will oversee operations for LHG's global portfolio of more than 30 operating hotels and residences while supporting the opening and integration of over 20 additional properties currently under development. His responsibilities place him at the center of the company's operational strategy as it expands into new markets and strengthens its footprint across multiple regions.
The development reflects Langham Hospitality Group's broader growth strategy, which includes entering Thailand with its first hotel in the country, launching new properties in China during 2026, followed by openings in Italy and Malaysia in 2027 and Saudi Arabia in 2028. These additions form part of a pipeline designed to extend the company's presence across key international hospitality markets while supporting its portfolio of luxury hotels, resorts and branded residences.
Chief Executive Officer Bob van den Oord said Schroeder's experience across different regions, cultures and hotel segments aligns with the company's expansion plans. He noted that Schroeder has demonstrated the ability to respond to changing market requirements while maintaining brand identity, a capability that supports consistent operational performance as the company grows into additional destinations.
Schroeder joins Langham Hospitality Group with more than three decades of hospitality leadership experience spanning Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Europe and Africa. His international career has covered operational management, luxury hospitality, regional leadership and brand oversight across several major hotel companies, providing experience in both mature and emerging hospitality markets.
Before joining Langham Hospitality Group, Schroeder served as Senior Vice President, Operations – Europe and Africa for Raffles and Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, where he was based in Dubai. In that role, he oversaw operational performance across multiple markets within the two luxury hospitality brands. Prior to that appointment, he held the position of Senior Vice President, Operations – Asia, Middle East and Africa for Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, leading operations across an extensive regional portfolio.
Earlier in his career, Schroeder spent more than 20 years with Hilton, where he held hotel-level, regional and global brand leadership positions across Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific. His final role at Hilton was Vice President – Luxury and Lifestyle, Asia Pacific, based in Singapore. During the same period, he also served concurrently as Global Brand Head for Conrad Hotels & Resorts, overseeing brand direction while supporting luxury hospitality operations across international markets.
His professional background extends beyond operational management into commercial performance, brand positioning, business development and hotel openings. This combination of experience provides operational and strategic expertise across different hospitality brands, market environments and development stages, supporting hotel openings and portfolio expansion initiatives.
At Langham Hospitality Group, Schroeder will be based at the company's headquarters in Hong Kong and report directly to Chief Executive Officer Bob van den Oord. In addition to leading operations for more than 50 existing and pipeline properties, his responsibilities will include oversight of Group Operations together with Quality & Sustainability functions.
These responsibilities are intended to support operational excellence across the portfolio while strengthening guest experience standards and contributing to the continued expansion of the company's international network. The combined operational and sustainability oversight also aligns with the company's approach to managing both established hotels and newly developed properties under multiple brands.
Schroeder said he is joining Langham Hospitality Group during an important stage of its development, highlighting the company's portfolio of hospitality brands and the opportunities presented by its growing pipeline of hotels and residences. He also noted the opportunity to build upon the company's existing operational foundation while maintaining operational excellence across every property.
The appointment comes as Langham Hospitality Group manages a portfolio that continues to expand geographically and across multiple hospitality segments. The company's current development pipeline includes properties scheduled to open over the next several years, requiring operational integration alongside brand consistency as new hotels enter the portfolio.
For hospitality investors, developers and ownership partners, executive appointments at the operating company level play a significant role in supporting expansion strategies, particularly when multiple projects are scheduled across different countries within a relatively short period. Operational leadership becomes increasingly important as hotel operators coordinate pre-opening activities, establish brand standards, integrate management teams and align property performance across diverse markets.
Langham Hospitality Group's upcoming projects span Asia, Europe and the Middle East, reflecting continued international growth beyond its existing operating portfolio. The addition of Thailand as a new destination marks the company's first entry into that market, while future developments in Italy, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia will extend its presence into additional strategic locations over the coming years.
A wholly owned subsidiary of Great Eagle Holdings Limited, Langham Hospitality Group operates a portfolio of hospitality brands that includes The Langham Hotels and Resorts, Cordis Hotels and Resorts, Eaton and Ying'nFlo. Across its operating and development portfolio, the company manages more than 40 hotels, resorts and residences with an international presence spanning Asia, Europe, North America, Australasia and the Middle East.
The group's heritage traces back to The Langham, London, recognized as Europe's first Grand Hotel. The company's brand portfolio continues to emphasize hospitality, design, innovation and service while expanding through both operating properties and projects currently under development across multiple international markets.
With Schroeder assuming responsibility for operations and the integration of existing and pipeline assets, Langham Hospitality Group positions its operational leadership around the continued execution of its international growth strategy as new hotels and residences are introduced across its expanding global portfolio.
