News Malaysia
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 19 August 2026Jin Jiang Hotels (Malaysia) has opened its first operational project in Malaysia with the launch of 7 Days Premium Hotel Hang Lekiu in Kuala Lumpur, marking the beginning of operations under its partnership with Malaysian hotel investment, development and management company Nexa Hospitality Sdn. Bhd.

The opening represents the first project from a broader development agreement between Jin Jiang Hotels (Malaysia) and Nexa Hospitality, which has resulted in 11 signed projects across Malaysia and Indonesia. The portfolio comprises nine projects in Malaysia and two in Indonesia, including developments under the 7 Days brand.

The partnership brings together Jin Jiang Hotels’ international hotel platform and Nexa Hospitality’s focus on hotel investment, development, brand partnerships and operations management in the Malaysian market. Nexa Hospitality has identified the digitalised guest experience and smart hospitality capabilities developed by the 7 Days brand in China as areas to be adapted for local market requirements.

7 Days Premium Hotel Hang Lekiu provides the partnership with its first operating property in Malaysia. Representatives from Tourism Malaysia, Jin Jiang Hotels (Malaysia), Jin Jiang Hotels China Region, Nexa Hospitality and project partners attended the opening, which also featured a traditional lion dance ceremony.

The Kuala Lumpur opening comes during Visit Malaysia 2026-2027, a tourism programme targeting 47 million international tourist arrivals and RM147.1 billion in tourism receipts in 2026. Malaysia recorded 10.65 million international visitor arrivals during the first quarter of 2026, representing a 5.4% increase from the same period a year earlier. Visitors from China increased by more than 25% year-on-year to 1.41 million during the period.

For Jin Jiang Hotels, the Malaysia launch places the 7 Days brand within a market identified as a core part of its broader Southeast Asia strategy, alongside Indonesia and Vietnam. The company plans to continue exploring opportunities to expand its portfolio and presence across the region.

The 7 Days brand has more than two decades of operating history and is positioned within Jin Jiang Hotels’ economy hotel segment. As of December 2025, the brand had expanded across more than 300 cities in China and overseas markets, with more than 1,800 hotels in operation and a total portfolio exceeding 2,400 properties.

The Malaysia entry also introduces a refreshed localised identity for 7 Days, including a new logo developed specifically for the Malaysian market. The updated identity provides a contemporary expression while retaining the brand’s focus on simplicity, reliability and convenience.

Located in central Kuala Lumpur, 7 Days Premium Hotel Hang Lekiu provides access to transport links, heritage attractions and lifestyle destinations. Nearby locations include Masjid Jamek LRT Station, Pasar Seni, Central Market, Petaling Street, Merdeka Square and Kuala Lumpur Tower.

From an operational perspective, the hotel incorporates technology-enabled services intended to streamline selected guest processes. Self-check-in kiosks allow guests to complete check-in independently, while front-desk personnel remain available to provide assistance when required.

Smart in-room controls are also incorporated into the property, enabling guests to manage their room environment through technology. A 24-hour robot delivery service provides another automated service option, allowing selected items to be delivered directly to guestrooms.

The hotel comprises several room categories, including Standard Twin, Standard King, Superior View Twin, Superior View Queen and Deluxe View King. Its facilities include a gym, self-service laundry room, public washroom and coffee house and breakfast area.

Operational features include high-speed WiFi, 24-hour hot water, a fresh-air system and e-wallet payment options. Members may request late check-out until 2.00pm, subject to availability. The property also includes Muslim-friendly features such as in-room prayer direction indicators and Muslim-friendly breakfast options.

The Malaysia operation is supported by Jin Jiang Hotels’ wider international network. As of 31 December 2025, Jin Jiang Hotels operated more than 14,100 hotels globally, representing more than 1.36 million rooms. The wider platform provides brand, operational and resource support for the development of 7 Days in Malaysia.

Supply-chain support is also connected to the Jin Jiang Global Purchasing Platform (GPP), the group’s official procurement platform. The platform provides services covering procurement, localisation and operating efficiency for hotel development and operations.

Its overseas B2B platform covers 75 countries and serves 633 hotels, with orders exceeding RMB80 million. Across domestic and international markets, the platform has recorded cumulative transaction value of more than RMB16 billion.

Distribution is another component of the Malaysia launch. 7 Days Premium Hotel Hang Lekiu will be available through major online travel platforms including Trip.com, Booking.com, Agoda, Traveloka and Tiket. Travellers from China can also access the property through the Jin Jiang Rewards app and WeChat mini programme, including member privileges and loyalty rewards.

The Malaysia operation therefore forms part of a wider development structure involving local partnership, hotel operations, technology-enabled services, international distribution and access to Jin Jiang Hotels’ broader hospitality ecosystem.

For Nexa Hospitality, the project marks the first operational milestone from its 11-project collaboration with Jin Jiang Hotels (Malaysia), with the remaining signed projects spanning Malaysia and Indonesia.

Jin Jiang Hotels (Malaysia), established as the Malaysia division of Jin Jiang Hotels China Region, is responsible for developing Jin Jiang’s hotel brands and operations in the Malaysian market. Its activities include local market development, brand partnerships and hotel operations, with further portfolio expansion forming part of Jin Jiang Hotels China Region’s Southeast Asia growth strategy.
