IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a franchise agreement with Harilela Group to introduce Vignette Collection to Singapore through the conversion of the existing 324-room Holiday Inn Singapore Orchard City Centre. The property is expected to reopen as The Hari Singapore, Vignette Collection in Spring 2027, adding the brand to IHG’s luxury and lifestyle portfolio in Singapore.
The agreement involves the transformation of a long-established hotel in Singapore’s Orchard Road precinct. The Holiday Inn Singapore Orchard City Centre opened in 1985 and is IHG’s longest-operating hotel in Singapore. Its conversion into The Hari Singapore will take place while the property undergoes a significant transformation overseen by British designer Tara Bernerd, whose portfolio includes The Hari London and The Hari Hong Kong.
The planned property is located in the heart of Orchard Road and near the historic Emerald Hill precinct. Its location provides access to several major areas of Singapore, including Marina Bay and the Civic District, as well as Changi Airport. The property’s existing location also serves regional leisure travellers, high-spending shoppers, and international guests staying for extended periods.
For Harilela Group, the agreement extends an established relationship with IHG that has developed over more than five decades. The two companies are now collaborating across six hotels, with the Singapore conversion adding another property to their shared portfolio.
The Hari Singapore will become the third property operating under The Hari brand, following The Hari London and The Hari Hong Kong, which debuted in 2016 and 2020 respectively. The Singapore property is scheduled to open in Spring 2027, extending the brand’s presence into another major Asian hospitality market.
The Hari brand was established from the vision of Dr. Aron Harilela, Chairman and CEO of Harilela Hotels Ltd. The Harilela Group was established in 1959 and remains wholly owned by the Harilela family. Its hotel business, Harilela Hotels, owns 15 properties across Hong Kong, China, Asia, Europe, and the United States.
The conversion also expands the operating footprint of Vignette Collection, IHG’s first collection brand and newest addition to its luxury and lifestyle portfolio. The brand was launched to provide owners of independent hotels with access to IHG’s enterprise platform and global scale while allowing properties to retain their individual character, style, and name.
Vignette Collection comprises independent properties positioned within IHG’s luxury and lifestyle portfolio. The brand’s model incorporates responsibility, community, and locality as shared elements across its hotels, while each property maintains its own identity and positioning.
IHG said Vignette Collection is tracking ahead of its ambition to reach more than 100 hotels within its first decade. The brand currently has more than 80 open and pipeline hotels worldwide, providing the framework for continued expansion across markets.
For IHG, the Singapore agreement adds another conversion opportunity within an established urban hospitality location. Rather than introducing a new-build property, the partnership involves repositioning an existing 324-room hotel under a collection brand while maintaining its connection to the Harilela Group’s hotel portfolio.
The conversion is also tied to the existing presence of The Hari brand in international markets. The Hari London operates at 20 Chesham Place in London, while The Hari Hong Kong operates at 330 Lockhart Road in Wan Chai. The Hari Singapore is planned for 11 Cavenagh Road, Singapore, 229616.
The design transformation is being led by Tara Bernerd, whose previous work includes both existing Hari properties in London and Hong Kong. Her involvement connects the Singapore project with the design direction already associated with the brand while the existing Holiday Inn property moves toward its new identity.
The partnership adds to IHG’s broader operating scale. IHG Hotels & Resorts has 21 hotel brands and IHG One Rewards, its loyalty programme with more than 160 million members. Across its global portfolio, the group has more than one million rooms in more than 7,000 hotels across over 100 countries, alongside a development pipeline of a further 2,300 properties.
For Harilela Group, the project brings its Hari brand into Singapore while continuing its longstanding relationship with IHG. The conversion also places the group’s existing hotel asset within Vignette Collection, which was specifically developed to support independent hotels through IHG’s global platform.
The planned opening of The Hari Singapore in Spring 2027 will mark Vignette Collection’s debut in Singapore. It will also add a third international location for The Hari brand, following its properties in London and Hong Kong.
