Marriott unveils new East Asia portfolio additions for 2026
The new openings will include three properties in Japan and one in South Korea.
Marriott International announces new openings in Japan and South Korea in 2026, strengthening its presence across Asia. These new properties will range from midscale to luxury hotels and resorts.
Japan will see three new openings next year, with the first scheduled for Q2. Courtyard by Marriott Okinawa Resort will debut the Courtyard brand in Okinawa.
The 160-key resort will feature rooms with private balconies as well as spacious family rooms. The hotel also offers an all-day dining restaurant, a lobby bar, a fitness center, and a kids' club, along with a 210-square-meter function space ideal for retreats and social events.
It is located near Kise Beach, with easy access from Naha Airport and close proximity to attractions such as Busena Marine Park and Kise Country Club.
In Q3 2026, Marriott will open Moxy Niseko Village in Hokkaido. The hotel will provide access to ski slopes in winter and a variety of outdoor adventures in summer.
The US$40 million development is a midscale hotel designed for millennials. It features 310 rooms across five levels and is Marriott’s fourth property in Niseko, following the completion of hotels in Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto.
A new luxury development will open in Q4 2026 with the launch of Hotel The Mitsui Hakone, a Luxury Collection Hotel & Spa. The 126-key luxury hotel will be set amidst a mountain landscape.
In South Korea, travelers can anticipate the opening of Sheraton Jeju Hotel in the second quarter of the year. Located near the city center, the 402-key hotel will offer rooms and suites, including family-friendly options.
The hotel will also feature a restaurant, bar, and café, as well as the Sheraton Jeju Infinity Pool — the longest year-round heated ocean-view pool in Jeju City at 100 meters — complete with a pool bar, fitness center, and sauna.
