Hyatt Hotels Corporation has surpassed its global hiring target under the RiseHY program, employing more than 12,000 Opportunity Youth worldwide between 2018 and 2025 and exceeding its original goal of 10,000 hires ahead of schedule. The achievement comes as the hospitality industry continues to focus on strengthening workforce pipelines and developing talent to support long-term growth across hotel operations.
The company announced that Hyatt and Hyatt hotels collectively reached the milestone through RiseHY, an initiative launched in 2018 to connect untapped talent with careers in hospitality. The program focuses on Opportunity Youth, defined as individuals from under-resourced communities who are not currently working, attending school, or participating in training programs.
As hotel companies continue to expand globally and compete for skilled labor, workforce development has become an increasingly important business priority. Through RiseHY, Hyatt works with community-based organizations and public-private partners to provide access to training, skills development, and employment opportunities across its portfolio. The initiative forms part of World of Care, Hyatt’s global framework focused on people, the planet, and responsible business practices.
The hiring milestone represents a significant expansion of Hyatt’s hospitality talent pipeline over the past seven years. More than 12,000 Opportunity Youth have joined Hyatt hotels globally since the program’s launch, surpassing the company’s original target of 10,000 hires by the end of 2025.
Mark Hoplamazian, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hyatt, said the company believes hospitality can create pathways to meaningful employment and long-term careers. He noted that Hyatt hotels are positioned to support individuals who face challenges entering the workforce while helping them develop professional skills and career opportunities within the industry.
Following the achievement, Hyatt announced in June 2025 a renewed commitment under RiseHY. The company plans to hire an additional 5,000 individuals from untapped talent pools, including Opportunity Youth, by the end of 2028.
The next phase of the program will place greater emphasis on retention, progressive skills training, and long-term career mobility. The additional hiring target will bring Hyatt’s overall RiseHY commitment to 15,000 hires by the end of 2028, reflecting a continued focus on workforce sustainability and career development across the company’s hotel network.
RiseHY is supported by Hyatt’s broader community engagement efforts, including the Hyatt Community Grant Program and initiatives backed by the Hyatt Hotels Foundation. These programs are designed to help individuals gain skills, confidence, and access to employment opportunities that can lead to careers in hospitality and other industries.
Since 2008, Hyatt, Hyatt hotels, and the Hyatt Hotels Foundation have directed more than US$7 million to over 300 nonprofit organizations across 54 countries. In 2025, the company prioritized community grants across 10 strategic regions where Hyatt hotels operate, aiming to deepen local impact and strengthen workforce readiness initiatives in those markets.
The company also highlighted its ongoing collaboration with nonprofit organizations that support workforce development. This week, Hyatt is participating in the closing ceremony of the “Compétences Plus” training program organized by Les Déterminés, a French nonprofit focused on entrepreneurship and workforce readiness.
Les Déterminés works to support economic development in underserved and remote communities through programs that help individuals prepare for employment and business opportunities. The organization has received annual Hyatt Community Grants since 2019, reflecting a longstanding partnership between Hyatt hotels in France and the nonprofit.
Through the collaboration, more than 300 young people have developed new skills, built confidence, and gained access to career opportunities. The partnership also demonstrates how local nonprofit alliances contribute to Hyatt’s broader workforce development objectives under RiseHY.
Across Hyatt’s global portfolio, several properties have played key roles in advancing the initiative. Hotels identified as leading RiseHY hiring locations include Grand Hyatt Baha Mar in the Bahamas, Grand Hyatt Mumbai in India, Hyatt Regency Chesapeake in the United States, and Dreams Natura Resort & Spa in Mexico.
At Park Hyatt Marrakech in Morocco, RiseHY has become an integral component of the hotel’s talent strategy. Approximately 10 percent of the hotel’s workforce in 2025 consisted of RiseHY hires.
The property works alongside a local nonprofit organization through support from the Hyatt Community Grant Program to provide structured training and government-recognized certification programs. These programs are designed to equip participants with the skills required for long-term careers in hospitality while supporting workforce development needs at the property level.
Franck Sibille, Area Vice President, Spain, Portugal and North Africa at Hyatt, said the program has contributed to building a strong talent pipeline while introducing new perspectives and energy into hotel teams. He added that the initiative continues to evolve as Hyatt works alongside the next generation of hospitality professionals.
Hyatt also shared examples of career progression among RiseHY participants across its global network. At Grand Hyatt Amman, Doa’a Awwad completed RiseHY training before joining the hotel’s culinary team as a commis and subsequently advancing within her role.
At Grand Hyatt Bali, Maria Dangu began her RiseHY journey as an intern before becoming a full-time employee. She later moved to Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi, where she assumed a leadership position as Team Leader. Her career path illustrates how the program supports employee retention, professional development, and mobility across different hotels and regions.
As hospitality companies continue to address workforce challenges and prepare for future growth, Hyatt is encouraging industry stakeholders to explore similar approaches to talent development. The company has made RiseHY resources, partnerships, and learnings available to community organizations and other businesses interested in preparing untapped talent for hospitality careers.
With more than 1,500 hotels and all-inclusive properties across 83 countries, Hyatt continues to expand workforce development initiatives designed to connect individuals with employment opportunities while strengthening talent pipelines that support hotel operations around the world.
