Thai AirAsia X, Thai Lion Air launch 3 new Japan–Bangkok flights

The new routes will connect Bangkok to Sendai, Hokkaido, and Osaka.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) launched three inaugural Japan–Bangkok services operated by Thai AirAsia X and Thai Lion Air.

The new routes from Sendai, Hokkaido, and Osaka are expected to stimulate year-end travel demand from one of Thailand’s most valuable international markets.

On 1 December, Thai AirAsia X commenced its four-times-a-week Sendai–Bangkok service. Its inaugural flight carried over 100 football players from the Tohoku region who traveled to Bangkok for matches and training.

On the same day, Thai Lion Air inaugurated its three-times-weekly Hokkaido–Bangkok service and launched its four-times-a-week Osaka–Bangkok service on 2 December.

For the first 11 months of 2025, Thailand recorded 985,612 Japanese visitors, an increase of 4.16% year-over-year.

Most travelers recorded an average spend of ฿39,000 per trip and an average stay of 6.04 days, with popular destinations including Bangkok, Chon Buri, Phuket, Ayutthaya, and Chiang Mai.
