Capella Hotels to open a new Kyoto property in 2026

Capella Kyoto is an 89-room hotel scheduled to open in Spring 2026.

Singaporean luxury hotel chain Capella Hotels will open a new property in Japan in the Spring of 2026.

Capella Kyoto is an 89-room hotel, including six executive suites, each with its own private onsen. The property is a converted elementary school site.

The hotel features Auriga Spa, which offers three private onsen rooms, wet and dry saunas, four treatment rooms, and a contemporary fitness centre. It also offers a signature restaurant and a Japanese restaurant.

"We honour Kyoto's living traditions through Capella Curates—our bespoke cultural programming—alongside world-class dining and wellness,” said John Blanco, Cluster General Manager of Capella Kyoto. “By transforming a beloved school site, we preserve its history while offering guests deep connections to the artistry and enduring spirit of Japan's ancient capital.”

Reservations are now open for Gion Whisper and Capella Sojourn, two distinct packages offering curated hotel experiences.
