Hilton Advances Lifestyle Expansion With Thailand and Maldives Signings

News Thailand Asia
Hilton is expanding its lifestyle portfolio in Southeast Asia with the signing of three new properties across Thailand and the Maldives, reinforcing its regional development strategy as the company advances toward its target of surpassing 250 luxury and lifestyle properties across Asia Pacific. The latest additions include a Curio Collection by Hilton resort in Phuket and two Tapestry Collection by Hilton hotels in Chiang Mai and the Maldives, broadening Hilton's presence in key leisure destinations while strengthening its development pipeline in high-demand markets.

The expansion reflects Hilton's continued investment in lifestyle hospitality across Southeast Asia, where the company plans to more than double its luxury and lifestyle portfolio. The new projects also build on Hilton's existing momentum in Thailand, following the opening of Kahavadi Chiang Rai, Curio Collection by Hilton, and ahead of the planned debuts of Canopy Bangkok Sukhumvit and Nivata Koh Samui, Tapestry Collection by Hilton later this year.

The three signings support Hilton's broader regional growth strategy by increasing its footprint in destinations that continue to attract strong demand for distinctive hospitality experiences. The projects also introduce additional opportunities for Hilton's lifestyle brands in markets where independent design, local identity, and destination-driven experiences have become central to hotel development.

Alexandra Murray, vice president and regional head of Southeast Asia at Hilton, said Thailand and the Maldives have established themselves as leading lifestyle destinations in the region, creating opportunities for the company's independent-spirited brands to expand in markets where guests increasingly seek experiences connected to local culture and place. She added that the latest agreements reinforce Hilton's strategy of matching its portfolio with markets that align with evolving demand while continuing to strengthen its lifestyle presence across key destinations.

One of the newly signed projects, Andamanda Voyage, Curio Collection by Hilton, is scheduled to open at the end of 2026 in Phuket's Kathu District. The 246-key resort will become the first Curio Collection by Hilton property on the island and will be located within the Andamanda Waterpark complex, integrating hospitality with retail, dining, and leisure offerings.

The development expands Hilton's presence in Phuket, complementing The Rawai Phuket, which is expected to open in 2027 as Hilton's first LXR Hotels & Resorts-branded property on the island. Together, the projects diversify Hilton's luxury and lifestyle portfolio in one of Thailand's most established resort destinations.

Guests staying at Andamanda Voyage will have direct access to the integrated retail and dining village within Andamanda Waterpark, while Central Phuket's shopping complexes are located nearby. The property's central location also provides convenient access to Phuket Old Town, Patong Beach, Karon Beach, Phuket Fantasea, and Carnival Magic, placing the resort within reach of the island's major tourism and entertainment attractions.

Hilton is also introducing the Tapestry Collection by Hilton brand to Chiang Mai through a new 65-room hotel located in the city's historic Old Town. The project marks the first Tapestry Collection property in Chiang Mai and expands the brand's presence in Thailand as Hilton continues to diversify its lifestyle offerings beyond resort destinations.

The hotel will occupy a heritage building that reflects Northern Thai architectural traditions within the UNESCO-recognized Old Town, an area surrounded by ancient moats and home to more than 300 temples. Designed to reflect the brand's independent identity, the property will incorporate locally inspired design alongside food and beverage experiences connected to the destination.

Its location places guests within walking distance of cultural landmarks, historic temples, local markets, and Chiang Mai's popular weekend walking streets, allowing the property to integrate heritage tourism with Hilton's growing lifestyle portfolio.

Hilton is simultaneously expanding its presence in the Maldives through the signing of Coco de Mer Maldives, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, which is expected to open in June 2027. The project will become the first Tapestry Collection property in the Maldives and will introduce the brand's independent positioning to one of the world's most established island hospitality markets.

The 75-key resort will be located approximately 25 minutes by speedboat from Malé, providing convenient access from Velana International Airport. The development is planned to include multiple dining concepts, a wellness center focused on relaxation and rejuvenation, a dedicated sea sports center, and pickleball courts, broadening Hilton's lifestyle offerings within the destination.

Maria Ariizumi, vice president of development for Southeast Asia at Hilton, said the company continues to receive strong interest from hotel owners across the region for its lifestyle brands, supported by favorable market fundamentals and changing traveler preferences. She noted that the three signings strengthen Hilton's presence in high-demand destinations while enabling the company to expand its award-winning brands alongside local partners across both resort and cultural markets.

The latest agreements contribute to Hilton's wider Asia-Pacific development strategy as the company works toward exceeding 250 luxury and lifestyle properties across the region. By adding new projects in Phuket, Chiang Mai, and the Maldives, Hilton continues to increase the scale of its lifestyle portfolio while expanding into destinations that align with its long-term regional growth objectives.

The newly signed hotels will also participate in Hilton Honors, Hilton's guest loyalty program covering the company's 28 hotel brands. Members booking directly through Hilton channels receive benefits including flexible Points and money payment options, exclusive member discounts, complimentary standard Wi-Fi, digital check-in, room selection, Digital Key, and other mobile app features.

Hilton currently operates a global portfolio of 24 brands encompassing more than 7,600 properties and nearly 1.2 million rooms across 126 countries and territories, with Southeast Asia remaining one of the company's priority markets for continued luxury and lifestyle development.
