Harilela Positions The Hari for Singapore Luxury Expansion

News Singapore
Harilela Hotels is expanding its luxury hospitality footprint with the launch of The Hari Singapore, marking the third destination under The Hari brand after London and Hong Kong. According to a press release issued by Harilela Hotels, the new property is scheduled to open in spring 2027 following the transformation of the existing Holiday Inn Singapore Orchard City Centre into a 326-room luxury hotel.
The expansion represents another milestone in the group's long-term brand development strategy, extending The Hari into one of Asia's most established hospitality markets. Located at 11 Cavenagh Road, Singapore, the hotel will introduce the boutique luxury brand to a city widely recognized as a regional hub for tourism, business travel, and international investment.
The project involves repositioning the current Holiday Inn Singapore Orchard City Centre into a new luxury hospitality asset rather than developing a hotel from the ground up. Once completed, The Hari Singapore will feature 326 guest rooms alongside a rooftop swimming pool, executive lounge, dining venues, wellness facilities, and the brand's signature rotating art collection, which has become a defining feature across The Hari portfolio.
The conversion reflects Harilela Hotels' continued investment in expanding its premium hospitality offerings while leveraging an existing property in a strategic location. By introducing The Hari brand to Singapore through a redevelopment project, the company is strengthening its presence in a market that plays an important role in regional and international travel.
The Hari Singapore will become the third hotel operating under the brand since its introduction nearly a decade ago. The Hari London welcomed its first guests in August 2016, followed by The Hari Hong Kong in December 2020. The Singapore opening will further establish a three-city portfolio spanning Europe and Asia.
Harilela Hotels has retained British designer Tara Bernerd to lead the design of the Singapore property. Bernerd previously developed the interior concepts for both The Hari London and The Hari Hong Kong, creating a consistent design identity across the brand while adapting each property to its surrounding destination.
For the Singapore project, Bernerd will continue that approach by combining contemporary design with elements reflecting the city's local identity. The interiors are intended to balance elegance with a strong sense of place, incorporating sophisticated yet welcoming spaces inspired by Singapore's cultural character and urban energy.
Beyond guestrooms, the hotel's public spaces will continue the brand's emphasis on art and culture. A revolving rotation of artwork, already established within previous Hari properties, will also become part of the Singapore hotel's guest experience, complementing its food and beverage, wellness, and executive lounge offerings.
The expansion also reinforces Harilela Hotels' strategy of building a recognizable luxury brand across major international destinations. Rather than introducing multiple brands across different market segments, the company continues to invest in growing The Hari as its flagship luxury hospitality concept.
Dr. Aron Harilela, founder of The Hari brand, said the Singapore property will continue the same hospitality philosophy established in London and Hong Kong.
"This hotel, like our sister properties in Belgravia and Wan Chai, will embody relaxed elegance punctuated by eccentricity, wit, culture and genuine heartfelt hospitality," he said.
Dr. Harilela also described Singapore as an important destination in the company's broader international growth plans, noting that the city supports the ambition of expanding The Hari across major global markets.
The Hari brand remains grounded in the Harilela family's long-standing commitment to hospitality. Each hotel is designed to celebrate culture, architecture, design, and service while maintaining a distinctive identity that differentiates the brand across its portfolio.
The expansion into Singapore also adds another strategic asset to the broader Harilela Group portfolio. Established in 1959, the Harilela Group remains wholly owned by the Harilela family and serves as the parent company of Harilela Hotels.
Today, Harilela Hotels owns 15 hospitality properties across Hong Kong, mainland China, other parts of Asia, Europe, and the United States. The addition of The Hari Singapore further expands the group's luxury offering while strengthening its presence in one of Asia-Pacific's most competitive hotel markets.
The redevelopment of the Orchard Road-area property also demonstrates how existing hospitality assets can be repositioned to support premium brand growth. Instead of adding new inventory through greenfield development, the project transforms an established hotel into a luxury product aligned with Harilela Hotels' long-term portfolio strategy.
With the opening targeted for spring 2027, The Hari Singapore is expected to extend the brand's international network while reinforcing its presence across key gateway cities. The project combines asset repositioning, brand expansion, and design continuity under a single development, reflecting Harilela Hotels' ongoing focus on growing The Hari portfolio through carefully selected urban destinations.
