NAGOYA, Japan — FHG HOTELS, operated by fav hospitality group Inc., will open BASE LAYER HOTEL _ UNION NAGOYA SAKAE on January 9, 2027, introducing a new format within its BASE LAYER HOTEL portfolio in Nagoya Sakae. The 86-room property is being developed as a business hotel that combines accommodation with food and beverage, music, wellness, fitness, wedding and event facilities.
FHG HOTELS is the project owner, while GREENING Inc. is responsible for planning, development and production, with On The Page Inc. overseeing hotel operations. The opening represents a new layer for BASE LAYER HOTEL, which has been expanding as a culture-oriented business hotel concept across locations including Nagoya Nishiki and Fukuoka, with additional properties planned for Kobe in November and Roppongi in December.

The Nagoya Sakae development includes a restaurant and music bar designed to operate throughout the day, providing breakfast, lunch, dinner and bar service. Food direction is supervised by Tomohiro Maruyama of Cherche Inc., known for restaurant and food projects including MAISON CINQUANTECINQ in Yoyogi-Uehara. The food concept, “New Familiar Table,” combines the familiarity of Western-style cuisine with a modern bistro approach.
The restaurant and music bar are intended to serve as a central component of the property, bringing together dining and music within the hotel. The facilities are designed to accommodate both local residents and travelers, creating a hospitality operation that incorporates food and beverage alongside guestrooms.

BASE LAYER HOTEL _ UNION will feature the largest spa area within the BASE LAYER HOTEL series, with access available to hotel guests as well as non-staying members through a membership system. The spa is designed around a private atmosphere and retreat-oriented experience.
The sauna has been supervised by academic sauna label madsaunist and will introduce the “madENGINE” sauna steam system to the Tokai region for the first time. The facility combines the system with a steam design centered on “Kneipp,” allowing guests to apply water inside the sauna. VETO electric sauna heaters from Finland will be used alongside MAD STONE and Finnish sauna stones.
