Selangor, Malaysia, 27 August 2026 — Dusit Hotels and Resorts, the hotel arm of Dusit International, is set to expand its presence in Malaysia with the opening of ASAI Gamuda Cove on 15 September 2026. The 13-storey property will introduce Dusit’s ASAI Hotels brand to the Malaysian market and become the largest property in the brand’s portfolio to date.
Located within the 1,530-acre Gamuda Cove township, ASAI Gamuda Cove is approximately 20 minutes by car from Kuala Lumpur International Airport. The opening represents the second hotel for Dusit in Malaysia, following Dusit Princess Melaka, which opened in December 2024. It also marks the first ASAI hotel to operate outside a city neighbourhood.
The property will add 280 rooms to Dusit’s Malaysian portfolio, with accommodation designed around compact and functional spaces. Room categories include options for solo travellers and couples, balcony rooms, bunk-bed configurations, and a two-room family category that can accommodate up to six guests. Selected rooms overlook the nearby wetlands, while guestroom facilities include fast Wi-Fi, smart televisions, walk-in showers, and practical storage.
ASAI Gamuda Cove will join three established ASAI properties: ASAI Bangkok Chinatown and ASAI Bangkok Sathorn in Thailand, and ASAI Kyoto Shijo in Japan. The Malaysian opening therefore extends the brand’s operating footprint into a new market while introducing a property format positioned within a large-scale township rather than a city neighbourhood.
The hotel is part of Gamuda Cove, a development that includes a range of nature, recreation, and commercial destinations. It sits beside the 1,111-acre Paya Indah Discovery Wetlands, a nature reserve and wildlife sanctuary, and is also next to the 90-acre Wetlands Arboretum, which includes walking routes, birdwatching, and environmental learning activities.
Other destinations within the township include SplashMania Waterpark, which features 39 slides and attractions, and Discovery Park, an outdoor recreation and entertainment hub. An electric tram network connects key destinations throughout the township, including its nature, recreation, and commercial areas.
For Dusit, the location provides the operational setting for ASAI’s “Live Local” positioning. The hotel will offer facilities extending beyond accommodation, including an infinity pool overlooking the wetlands, a gym, co-working areas, and flexible meeting and event spaces with capacity for up to 100 people.
Three dining venues will operate at the property. Nasi & Khao will combine Malaysian classics, Thai flavours, and familiar Western dishes, while Tea Shop will offer curated teas and light bites from morning until late. Pool Bar will provide cocktails, refreshments, and snacks alongside views of the infinity pool and Paya Indah Discovery Wetlands.
The property’s location also places it approximately 20 minutes by car from Sepang International Circuit. Formula 1 is scheduled to return to Malaysia for the first time since 2017, with the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia taking place from 2–4 October 2026.
For Dusit, the timing of the hotel’s opening places ASAI Gamuda Cove within a period of increased activity around the destination. The property is scheduled to welcome its first guests less than three weeks before the Formula 1 event. Group CEO of Dusit International, Mr Chanin Donavanik, said the hotel’s role would extend beyond the race weekend and that the property was intended to provide access to the wider township and its surrounding area.
ASAI Hotels was created for travellers seeking well-designed essentials, accessible rates, and a closer connection to the destinations they visit. Its properties combine compact, functional rooms with social, dining, and co-working spaces shaped by their respective locations. ASAI Gamuda Cove will become the brand’s fourth operating hotel.
The Malaysian opening also forms part of Dusit’s broader expansion in the country. Following Dusit Princess Melaka’s opening in December 2024, Dusit is scheduled to add another property in October 2026 with the opening of Dusit Princess Ipoh. Details of the Ipoh property are set to be announced separately.
With ASAI Gamuda Cove, Dusit will operate two hotel properties in Malaysia while ASAI expands from established city locations in Bangkok and Kyoto into a township development. The 280-room property will also represent the largest ASAI hotel currently in operation and the brand’s first location outside a city neighbourhood.
