Aman Expands Ultra-Luxury Portfolio Into South Korea

News South Korea
SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA — Aman has announced Aman Seoul, the ultra-luxury hospitality and lifestyle brand’s first property in South Korea, as part of an integrated development that will combine hospitality, branded residences and private membership facilities. The project is being developed in partnership with Shinsegae Property, a global asset management and development company, and will be located in Cheongdam, one of Seoul’s most prominent districts.

Positioned in the heart of Gangnam overlooking the Han River, Aman Seoul will comprise a hotel, a limited collection of branded residences and a global Aman Club. The development extends Aman’s operating model beyond a standalone hotel format by bringing accommodation, residential ownership, wellness and private community facilities into a single destination.

The expansion marks Aman’s entry into Seoul at a time when the South Korean capital has developed a growing international presence across fashion, beauty, design, technology and contemporary culture. Within the city, Cheongdam is described as a key center for luxury retail, design and cultural activity, providing the location for Aman’s first destination in the country.
For Shinsegae Property, the project forms part of a partnership that brings its understanding of the Korean market together with Aman’s experience in hospitality and branded residences. The announcement follows a strategic partnership recently established between Shinsegae Group and OKO Group.

Aman Seoul has been conceived as a destination that maintains the privacy and sense of sanctuary associated with the Aman brand while remaining connected to Seoul’s urban environment. The development will include separate arrival sequences and dedicated entrances for the hotel, residences and Aman Club, giving each component its own identity and level of privacy.

The architectural and interior design approach is being developed in dialogue with South Korean partners and craftspeople. Generous suites and public spaces will incorporate elements drawn from Korean spatial traditions and materiality, while the overall architecture and interiors will follow a minimalist contemporary approach.

The design strategy also extends across the residential component. Aman Residences will provide a range of living experiences centered on privacy, space and design, with Aman Interiors bringing the brand’s aesthetic into the residences through bespoke furnishings and curated interior elements.

The branded residences form a central part of the development’s business model, extending the Aman brand beyond hotel accommodation into permanent residential use. Alongside the residences, the Aman Club will provide private facilities for members and residence owners, including a dedicated pool, fitness facilities and social spaces.

Wellness will represent another dedicated component of the project. Aman Seoul will feature spa and wellness facilities spanning multiple floors, designed to support physical and mental restoration. The property will also include a global food and beverage program incorporating Aman’s own dining concepts.

The Aman Club is intended as a private setting where residence owners and members can gather, adding a membership-based component to the wider development. Its facilities will operate alongside the hotel and residences within the fully integrated destination.

The Seoul project is part of Aman’s expanding collection of urban destinations. It follows Aman Tokyo, Aman New York and Aman Nai Lert Bangkok, while forthcoming developments listed by the company include Aman Beverly Hills, Aman Miami Beach, Aman Dubai and Aman Singapore.

Aman’s expansion into Seoul also forms part of the brand’s broader development across hospitality, residences, wellbeing and private community offerings. The company was founded in 1988 with the concept of creating intimate retreats modeled on the warmth and privacy of a private home. Its portfolio has since grown to 32 hotels and resorts across 20 destinations, with a further nine properties under construction.

Aman Seoul will bring this development strategy into South Korea through a project combining hotel operations, branded residences and membership facilities in one urban destination. The property is planned for Cheongdam, with its position overlooking the Han River placing the development within Seoul’s Gangnam district and its luxury retail, design and cultural environment.

The partnership with Shinsegae Property provides the project with local market expertise alongside Aman’s global hospitality and branded residence capabilities. The development will therefore encompass multiple business components under the Aman brand, including hotel accommodation, residential real estate, wellness facilities, food and beverage and private club operations.

With Aman Seoul, the brand is entering the South Korean market through a development structured around several interconnected hospitality and lifestyle segments rather than a hotel-only offering. The project will introduce Aman’s first destination in the country while adding another integrated urban development to its international portfolio.
