Kuala Lumpur among top holiday destinations for Asian travelers

The capital city, along with Johor Bahru, and Penang have emerged as the top inbound destinations for travelers visiting Malaysia.

According to Agoda, Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia is the seventh most popular Asian destination for international festive-season travelers and the most searched domestic destination.

Locally, Kuala Lumpur is the top destination for Malaysian travelers, followed by Penang and Malacca.

In terms of accommodation searches, Bangkok, Thailand is the most popular destination among Malaysians spending the Lunar New Year holiday abroad.

For outbound travels, Malaysians also rank Bangkok as its top destination, followed by Hat Yai in Thailand and Tokyo in Japan.

Among Asian travelers, Japanese cities also emerged as favorites for the Lunar New Year holiday, with Tokyo leading, followed by Bangkok, Taipei (Taiwan), Osaka (Japan) and Seoul (South Korea) in the top five. Fukuoka (Japan), Kuala Lumpur, Sapporo (Japan), Singapore and Hong Kong round out the top 10.
